I had the luxury last week of eavesdropping on my eight and six year old boys, chatting it up in the back seat of the car about the imminent arrival of school.
Son #1: “You are going to love school. It’s a lot of work, but it is so much fun and you will love Ms. Jane.”
Son #2: “I can’t wait.”
Son #1: “You will have to get up early, eat your breakfast, get dressed and brush your teeth. I will show you how it’s done so we can get to school on time.”
Son #2: “Yeah, I don’t think that is gonna work for me so much.”
Son #1: “What is not going to work?”
Son #2: “Getting up. That will make me really cranky.”
Son #1: “You have to get up or you will be tardy.”
Son #2: “Maybe I can go after I wake up. I will not be so cranky.”
